Tonight the boys were cleaning downstairs. Will ran up to have me come and check his work. He said: I'm done mom but it might be kind of singy in my room because my radio is on.

Spring break 2014

We are in Michigan this spring break with my mom (the boys and me).
It's really cold but absolutely beautiful. There is about a foot of what looks like beautiful snow, but in fact it's ice.  I walk on top of it and don't sink: it's crazy!  The boys have been having a great time playing on it.
The first night we got here we took a walk and saw some gorgeous ice formations out on the water. Most of what's in these pictures is on the water. Just the very foreground is beach.

Gorgeous moon tonight!  I've never been able to take good moon pics but I had to give it a shot tonight.

Basketball

Will had a fun basketball season this year! It was the first time he's played.  He really enjoyed it and it was especially fun seeing him progress as the season went along.  He is pretty darn good!  Proud Momma. :)

This is his friend Chase. He's played a couple of sports with Chase over the years - we really like his parents and they have 2 boys as well.

Burger War

Yesterday from the next room I overheard Luke trying to get Will to finish up his lunch.  Here is part of what I heard:

Luke: Suck it up and finish your lunch.
Will: I can't suck it up - it's a hamburger!
The meal was disastrous actually.  Luke grilled burgers and Will usually loves them.  I don't know why he was dragging it out but it took him almost an hour to eat his burger.  I was taking the boys to a birthday party and it was time to go and he wasn't finished.  Finally I set the timer on the microwave and told him that he had 5 minutes to finish his burger or he wasn't going.  OH boy. He cried and carried on and wasted all kinds of time saying he couldn't eat that fast!  It's not fair!  With about 5 seconds to go he still had a few bites left and I told him I was really sorry, but it didn't look like he was going to be able to go..  Out of nowhere he shoved them ALL into his mouth just in the nick of time.  His mouth was so full he could barely close it.  I told him he also wasn't going to the party if he threw up ....   I had had it with his lunchtime performance and we know his little tricks.  So as he was gagging and with tears running down his face, and his squirrel cheeks ballooned out from the enormous amount of burger inside, he put on his shoes and coat and headed out for the party.  On the drive there I watched him from the rearview mirror - his mouth still packed with burger.   He continued to chew on his mouthful, slowly swallowing normal amounts down.  About 5 minutes into our car ride he finished the last of it.  We arrived at the party and his face was red and splotchy - partly from him being so upset and partly from ketchup - remnants of our little burger war.  But then it was all over - I cleaned him off and he had a great time and all was well.  :)
