Zoo Trips

Dane got up close and personal with a bear and a tiger at the zoo on a trip we made before Will was out of school.  It wasn't busy and it was fun to go just him and me and get so close to the animals.
I just took the boys last week and we had fun exploring the new orangutan exhibit. I felt sorry for them (the orangutans) - they were just looking out the glass :(  But they sure were cute, had an amazing and impressive place to live and lots of fresh lettuce to eat.  I had read that there were a number of females, but only one male at the exhibit at a time because the males don't get along.  I was wondering which one was the male....

......until it was VERY clear which one was the male.  He had these long dreadlocks and a wide wide face. (apparently the wide face is attractive to the females so he must be very good looking:)  He was really an impressive orangutan.  His hair was so long.  It was really neat to see.

Type A? OCD?

It just occurred to me..  we have these sets of glasses for the boys. When they're both not drinking out of the same set (if one glass of the set is dirty, etc) and they each have a glass from a different set it gives me a very unsettling feeling. OCD?
Sweet glasses. I'll be sad when they always drink out of big people glasses.

SKIING

My mom and Chuck got children's beginner skiis for the lake.  Their just like normal skiis but have a bar that connects them at the front so they can't split.  The rope also doesn't connect to the boat so that when they fall, it's ok if they forget to drop the rope bc person holding it on the boat drops it too.
This was Will's 3rd try! He did an amazing job!!

My Little Fishies

I've been wanting to get the boys in swim lessons. I've had problems getting the job done for one reason or another- probably mainly because I've wanted to do private lessons. In the meantime, this happened. Notice in the first video Will isn't wearing any floaties and swims under water to the shallow end. Second video, Dane is learning to swim under water, no floaties. :)

Will is 7!

Learning to tie

Dane has been working on learning to tie. Shoes, shorts with drawstrings, etc. I was folding laundry and found this on his shorts. Looks like he's got the first part down pat!

Mystery Virus - Will

Will's been running a fever since last Thursday morning.  At times (Sat night and then again Sunday night) it's been dangerously high.  105.2 was the highest.  Three strep tests were all negative.  This morning (Tuesday) it's still at 102, although it didn't spike so high yesterday.  If he's still running a fever tomorrow I'll take him back in to his pediatrician's office and they'll do a blood test for mono.  Poor guy it's hard to see him so sick for so long.  He has periods where he feels better and wants to play.  But he's mostly lying around and taking it easy.  He hasn't wanted to eat much, so of course we're feeding him whatever he wants.   Before we knew it wasn't just a typical short virus, I left for Cousins' Weekend.  Luke was with him Friday night through Sunday early afternoon.  He did an amazing job - earning quite a few Mr. Mom points.  :)
There's no medicine he can take for mono, just treat the symptoms which is what we're doing now but at least we would know what it is.  Hoping he feels better soon.
I was irritated about something yesterday and Dane looked at me and very calmly asked "Have you had it?"

Tonight in the shower Dane informed me that he has poison ivy on the chin of his butt.  I had a look, just where you'd think, and sure enough he had a little bug bite.

First slip n slide of the year!  Love these boys so much.  And I'm so grateful that they have each other. (And dare I say get along pretty darn well most of the time)

Good Friends

Here is Will with our good friends Jamie and Jay's son Jude and daughter Aslyn.  (Dane was pouting off to the right - not happy about having to break for a picture)

And of course Nellie, Will, Fisher, and Dane.  (on the last day of school)

Track and Field Day

For the last day of school at Will's school, Paragon Elementary, they had a track and field day. All day long they got to play outside and do different games.  I volunteered and was in charge of the water race.  It was so much fun to see all the kids and especially to be a part of something that they were all so excited about.

Here is Tug of War.  Each grade has two classes, so each grade had a tug of war with the other class.  Will's class voted him as the "anchor" of his class, the strongest kid to pull the rope from the end.  He was pretty excited about that. :)

The Parageon Fire Department also came and sprayed all the kids with the fire hose (sprayed it up in the air and they got to walk through it)  Very fun for them.

Will and Fisher after walking thru the fire hose spray.

Last Day of Kindergarten

My sweet Will is finished with kindergarten!   It's so hard to believe. Time flies. I'm very proud of this boy :)

First Day of Summer

School is out now and for our first day of summer we went swimming at Aunt Terri's.  Will had some new "gear" to try out ...  his shark gear. :)

We also got to try out Terri's new paddle board!  We are excited to try it out on a lake sometime soon - It's very cool.  Here is Will getting a lesson.   Big Boy!

Fun Day Sunday

Today Luke took the boys crawfish hunting in the creek by our house.  It was perfect weather, cool water and warm air. I followed after them (I had just gotten back from a run) and they had hiked back quite a way!  I couldn't see them, but after a while Will came back first.  He had had enough.

Then shortly after, Daddy and Dane came back with their crawfish.
