Mrs. Rice

Dane's teacher this years name is Mrs. Rice. He colored her a picture this week and wanted to take it to her. He was sounding out her name here at the top of the page. How cute is he!? And he's exactly right... That darn english language.😡

He's doing such a good job learning to read and write. It's so fun to watch.

This child.

Will wears the funniest things these days. He has begun caring about his clothes. So where I used to be able to lay out his outfits for him, that no longer works. And because I pick my battles with this strong-willed child, clothes usually aren't at the top of that list. He typically goes for athletic shorts and an Under Armour t-shirt. He prefers it if his shorts are UA also. And his socks and of course his shoes are. 🙄

If all of the above mentioned items are dirty, that's when things get interesting.  We've had a few conversations about what types of clothes go well together, what colors match, or rather, don't match. At home, when he has free reign is when it is the most entertaining.  I usually forget to snap a pic, but here are two. 

This was the other morning. He slept in his pants and robe. He looked like a little man. 

 

This was last night. I had to take this when he was brushing his teeth.  Just red knee socks and his underwear. That's all.  I love it. 

Go Artesi....

This is hard!! This is the first time Will has played for "the Artesians." All season we cheered for the Hoosiers. I admit, it was luck that he was on that team. Now that he's playing travel it's just the Artesians. So here I have this sweatshirt and I'm having a hard time putting it on! But I did it. This will be quite an adjustment...

Forgery!

Every night I have to initial Will's agenda book, acknowledging that I saw his homework and that it's finished. Last week one night I completely spaced initialing it. It was my fault, we did his homework together and I just spaced it. The next day, when I realized what I'd done I apologized to him and he quickly responded it was no big deal, he'd signed it. Ummmmm.. So I guess this officially goes down in the books as the first time he's forged my name. 2nd grade. I fear what lies ahead... (Bottom initials are his handiwork). 

Will

Will is in this phase where we are seeing him turn into a more independent kid mixed with glimpses of little boy.  At times it's challenging and at times it's sweet to watch. Yesterday at the zoo the boys both got a little stuffed animal. When Will got home he introduced his new friend to "the crew" (Bear Bear, Ton-ton, Schweetheart, Monkey, Bevo, and Dove) and then he brought the new guy and Schweetheart out to watch tv with him. So cute. (Therefore I'll forgive him for sitting on top of the table)

Fall Break 2015

The boys are on fall break this week. So far we've had a fun week. Yesterday we went to the zoo with Nana and Aunt Sandy. It was chilly but great weather and we all had a great time!

She's Nuts!

The Once again this year, it's been a crazy end of summer/start to fall. On top of starting my new job, the boys' school, football obligations multiple times per week, and Luke being gone and having a super demanding work schedule, I've had shows on the weekends.  It's been a very stressful time, and Luke and I have been like passing ships in the night. It's hard on the whole family, and we wouldn't be able to do it if we didn't have such an incredible village.  Mainly, Luke's dad, my mom and Chuck, and Terri and Mike.  They have helped us so many times, in so many ways, over and over. They are all pretty incredible!

As crazy as it has been, we are so grateful for the opportunities we have and the amazing family and support system. 

It was so fun this year to be able to work with those I love. My mom and Sandy came with me to the Louisville Oktoberfest which was so fun! And Terri and Grandma Party came to Chautauqua with us. It was a busy but fun and successful season.

Proud Mama!

I am so proud of my boys. They are both growing up so fast right now.  

Dane is doing great in kindergarten and loves going to school and loves learning. Nana got us the game Banangram which has tiles like in scrabble. We've been using it to learn how to spell words. He spelled almost all of these words this morning all by himself. The only ones we really helped him who were egg(2 gs) and a couple others like that. He has such a sweet heart and as much as painful as it is to see my baby getting bigger, it's so wonderful to see him turning into such a great kid. 

Will had a great first season in football. He was named player of the week and was recognized at the high school game.

 His team won the championship game in the playoffs yesterday!

But more than any of those awesome accomplishments, I'm proud of his spirit and attitude. He was "present" at all of his practices and games. He tried his best every time.  Mid was through the season I received this text from his coach.  

"I just wanted to let you know that Will is doing a great job. He listens at practice and with group that is sometimes difficult. He has improved every week and as a coach that is all I can ask for. He is hesitant at times and asks questions but he asks the right questions which tells me he knows what to do and expect. I am very proud of him he played an excellent game tonight."  

He was also invited to play on the All-star  travel team. Players are hand picked from all the teams to form one team in each age group. They will play in tournaments against Mooresville and Decatur later this month. Go Will!
