Mom's So Old

While talking with the boys about our car I said that my hope was to drive it for 7 years and then it could be Will's first car. Will asked what I would drive if he took my car. 

Dane was quick to reply: "It will probably be one of those handicapped cars that park in the front spots." 

Happy 9th birthday Will!

Will turned 9 this summer.  I'm so late posting this, but better late than never.  It's so hard to believe it's been 9 years since Luke and I became parents.  We seemed so young back then.  And it really has been that old saying that a day can stretch on forever but a year passes by in the blink of an eye.  How has it been 9 years?

Will is such an amazing boy.  He is smart, so smart.  He is always paying super close attention and he hears everything.  He figures out things on his own.  He is independent.  He is a do-er.  He gets things done.  He is so outgoing and he loves to be outside.  He can play outside by himself for hours.  He loves to golf in the front yard, he loves to mow (he is responsible most weeks for mowing the square out back and our tree).  He does a great job.  He drives the Ranger just about as well as I do.  He's like a little man already.  He is so strong-willed, which I'm grateful for, but has caused me half a head of gray hairs.  He is testing me all the time.  He's incredibly athletic.  He is playing football for the 2nd year and he's doing really great.  He's also amazing at soccer.  He's really fast, he works hard, doesn't complain, listens to his coaches, and has a great time.  

This year for his birthday celebration he wanted to invite his closest friends over for a cookout and games.  Fortunately, we are good friends with all the parents of his closest friends so we had a bunch of people here and everyone had a great time!  We had the Dunscombes, Haywoods, Crones, Etters, and Cragens. Here are a few pics - unfortunately I didn't get any of all the kids.

We bought a bunch of water guns and had a fill station (Ammo Depot) in the front yard and one in the back.

It was a gorgeous day!  Here is Brady, Jude, Will, and Hudson.

On his birthday morning he requested his favorite breakfast - bacon and cheese biscuits.

He had swim lessons that day.

And then we went to the park and met some of my friends from high school who were in town for our 20th reunion.  I didn't go because it was the same night as his party so it was nice to see them and he was excited to play at Lower Cascades for a while. 
Nyagon, Regan, Jenni, Rachel, and Kandi were there.  These are all of our offspring.  :)

Then we met Nana, Grandpa and Aunt Sandy for lunch at McAlisters (Will's pick).  I hope he had a great day.  My sweet, big boy.
