A New Bed!
Growing up, my family had this kitchen table that we loved. It was teak with terra cotta tiles in the middle. When I graduated from IU and moved to San Francisco my mom gave me the table. It went with me out west, then back to Bloomington. Then up north for a few years, and then back to Bloomington. Then when Luke and I moved in together it was great in our kitchen. I just counted and I'm pretty sure I moved that table 8 times! (and it was HEAVY) When we recently moved in to our new house we got a different table. I wasn't sure what to do with my old table. It has so much sentimental value. I didn't want to throw it out. We were having Dan, the guy who built our house, build a bed for us. Luke came up with the fantastic idea for him to use the tiles from the table in our headboard and foot board. It turned out great - we absolutely love it. He gave us an unreal deal on it and did such a great job. We will have to put a finish on it, but all of the wood he used is from the table, wood that was salvaged from the old barn on the Payton property or our new house.

Things Will has said lately...
The other night Will came upstairs in the middle of the night and I told him he could just sleep in bed with me for the rest of the night. The next morning I was getting breakfast ready and he was sitting there thinking about something for a minute. Then he said "Last night was VERY special."
He recently informed me that "Someday you'll grow a tallywhacker like me and Daddy."
He's been lying lately...
"Dane told me to _____." Just fill in the blank because there have been a lot of them. Dane told me to stand there. Dane told me to take that off his tray. Dane told me I could have this. The list goes on. ...I wasn't aware Dane was talking yet!
He also does this to poor Rosco. "Rosco put his bone there!" (outside a closed door, on the counter, etc.)

Dane is 10 months old today! My sweet boy. He constantly fills my heart with joy. He's getting so big so fast and I just want it to stop. He pulls up annd cruises the furniture and crawls at lightening speed. He is babbling all the time, and DEFINITELY saying mama. He has pretty much figured out the pincer grip and is starting to eat some solids. He eats cut up turkey slices, black beans, shredded cheese, little bits of bread, blueberries, bananas and strawberries. And of course all the baby puffs. Like his older brother he loves Mum Mums. His sleeping is going well. After another setback where he was getting up way to early I had to resort to a little bit of sleep training again, but he did great and now sleeps in his crib all night. I would love to bring him into bed with me and snuggle when he wakes up around 5 or 6 but neither of us were sleeping well when I did that. Now he usually wakes about one time and I put his paci in his mouth and cover him back up and he goes right back to sleep. It's wonderful. Will is doing well again too - after a long stretch of waking up and coming up to our room. Now if I could just get the dog and cat on board I might actually get to stay in my bed the whole night! I'm still pumping but I've cut way down. A couple of weeks ago I went down to 3 pumps per day. That was good and I was still keeping up with his demand. This past weekend I went down to 2 pumps/day and my supply is going down quickly. I'm ready though, and he has more than enough milk frozen to get him to 1 year. (yay!!)

Will has been playing with his bike helmet lately. He goes on missions, eats bugs (not really), and this morning he was taking trips on his space ship. He doesn't like me to take his picture very much lately, but I engaged him in conversation long enough to snap this one. The best part is that he puts it on backwards and often will have an ear sticking out.

Dane
Dane has a new hobby. He eats paper. Over the last week I've caught him eating paper probably 4 times. Whether it's my grocery list at the store or part of a book. He loves to bite off a chunk and chew it like gum. When I realize what he's done I immediately try to get it from him. He lays perfectly still and locks down those gums and stares at me. So calm. He looks at me like - go ahead and try mom, you're not getting it! Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't.
He is changing so much. I SWEAR he's saying Momma. When he is crawling toward me or wants to be picked up he'll say it. He also played his first game the other day. We had these large plastic toy coins that go in a piggy bank. We would put them on the arm of the chair and he would throw each one off onto the hardwoods and watch them roll and clank. He did it over and over. It was the first time I've seen him intentionally do something repeatedly as a game.
He also got two more teeth on the top. But strangely enough, they're the two outside teeth, not the middle ones. Kind of like fangs. :)

Slippery Steps!
We have hardwood stairs in our new house. Beautiful? Yes! Safe? Not so much. I've been so scared ever since we moved in that one of us was going to fall. I was worried about Will hurrying down them and falling. My biggest fear was me falling while I was carrying Dane. I went through it in my head a hundred times. Would I drop him? What if I fell forward and he hit his head on the hardwoods? What if I fell on top of him? I obviously would try to keep a hold of him but in a situation like that your instincts take over. What are my instincts? Would they be to hold him or break my own fall? Well...it happened, and I was carrying Dane. Saturday morning I was talking to Luke who was in the living room when BAM, down I go. Fortunately I didn't fall forward but I slipped down them. My left leg went to the side and behind me and I twisted my knee. THANK GOD I held on to Dane and didn't drop him. He was fine, but my knee is injured. I don't think it's anything serious, but 5 days later I'm still limping and taking the steps one at a time. I thought it was getting better but today it's actually feeling a little worse. We might end up needing to put some type of tread on them or something. Especially since Dane is just going to be learning to walk. I told Luke, Gone are the days when we can fall down the stairs, hop up, laugh about it and go on like nothing happened!
