Tonight Will had his last soccer game. It was 8U, which means ages 7 & 8. It is really amazing how good they are and how much difference a year makes. They really know what's going on amd got so good at passing, defending, and maneuvering to keep others away from the ball. Will had an excellent season and did really really well!

Track and Field Day
I volunteered at Wills track and field day again this year. I absolutely love getting to see these kids have so much fun. And of course the main event - the tug of war between the 2 classrooms of each grade. So much fun. Then the fire department sends over a fire truck and they spray the kids and let them run through the water. They have a blast. This year Dane came with me and helped and he did great. We worked the hay bale station where the kids split up into groups and had relay races. Dane would demonstrate what they were supposed to do before we started each race. :)

Get Well Card
About a week and a half ago Will was very very sick. It was a virus but he couldn't keep anything down for about 36 hours. No fluids or medicine to lower his dangerously high fever. 105.2 at one point and 104+ for many hours. He also was vomiting and had a horrible headache and stomach ache. He was a sick boy, and I was very close to taking him to the hospital. But his fever broke and he began recovering. At one point when he was really sick Dane brought this note in the bedroom folded up like a card. I had forgotten about it, and just found it. :) 💕

Will asked me for $5 for a book fair at school tomorrow. I looked in my wallet and told him I only had a $10. He said well I probably have 2 $5's I can trade you. So casually we both walked downstairs and as he dug in his wallet and pulled out 2 $5 's and I exchanged him my $10 and then gave him a $5 to buy a book, it hit me....when did he get so big!!?! 😢

Danes last soccer game
Dane had a great soccer season this year. These little ones grew so much over the season. At the beginning it was like herding cats, and now they really know the object of the game and they try so hard. It was so fun to watch them all play this spring! :)

Will and his cat Missy. She has a little bit of an attitude problem...he is the only one she will let hold her for long(er) periods of time. Unless it's in the middle of the night she likes to lay on me, but only if I don't touch her. I can get about 2 pets in, then I get a chomp on the arm. I'm trained well. She loves him :)

Dane is 5!
Dane is 5 years old as of April 13. He is so sweet. Such a mixture of little boy and big boy. (which i feel like I say every year, for both boys - but it's true) He still sleeps with his blankie, but runs along with the big kids. It's so sweet to hear him having big-kid conversations with Will about Superheros, Pokemon cards, Lego creations and movies. He and Will play rough. He falls behind when they're all running together with friends. He gets beat almost every race. He loses in Xbox games. He gets shot the most when playing Nerf guns. All because he is always playing with the big kids. He's always the youngest. And as much as it breaks my heart to see this happen, I keep hearing that this only makes him stronger. It will make him tough. And sure enough - when he gets shot, most of the time he keeps on playing. When he and Will are wrestling and he gets elbowed in the face, he keeps on wrestling. When he loses a race, he keeps on running with a smile on his face. He is such a little tough machine. He impresses me every day.
He's so smart. He knows all his letters and sounds. He can write his first name and sometimes his last. He knows all his shapes and numbers. He can count super high - just sometimes leaves out 17, 27, 37, etc. (but not 7 - just the upper 7s :) He's really good at coloring, especially for how seldom he does it. He loves watching cartoons (cringe) but he does. He loves Jesus. He has had the same religious upbringing as Will - a Lutheran pre-school and pre-kindergarten. Church here and there (not enough). But he has always LOVED Jesus. Stories of the Bible. Going to Sunday School. It's really very sweet and heart-warming. And funny - like a year or two ago when we were in Kroger near Easter-time and he yelled out of the blue "Jesus has Risen!" He loves to add in prayers during our nightly dinner-time prayer. "What about Benny Boo? and Kramer?" (two pets we've lost in the last couple of years)
He is pretty adventurous in his eating habits. He will usually try new foods without putting up too much of a fight. His favorite food is black bean nachos - a boy after my heart. He is very happy go lucky. He will run errands with me all day and not really complain. He usually is very go with the flow. And has a tenderness about him. He will get his feelings hurt more than, say, his emotions-of-steel brother.
And last but not least, he is FUNNY. The things he says are just hilarious. Every day he cracks us up. At least 5 times a day he says things that are just so funny. He doesn't even try. Most people have a good sense of humor and some people are truly funny. Dane is truly funny. He's so entertaining. He makes us laugh every day.
