We went to SkyLounge 107 at the top of the Stratosphere. It was so pretty and neat to be up there at sunset and then see the strip at night. Had a great time!
The Bellagio fountains. It seemed like most nights we ended up there. Luke made fun of me - but I took a number of videos of the fountains because I thought the boys would like seeing them. They did!!! :)
We rented a motorcycle and rode out to The Hoover Dam. We took the Dam tour and took some Dam pictures. (Hehe) and it was so cool.

They told us we came at a great time because they had a rotor out and were repairing it. Only happens about every 17 years. These things are so big that pictures don't do it justice. If you look closely, the outside of this rotor has a lot of black panels. Each one of those panels weighs 4 tons!! We estimated there are about 40 of them. ANd that's just the outside!
There are 7 or 8 of these huge water processing machines on each side of the dam.
THe Hoover Dam is so amazing. I didn't think I would like it all that much - an attraction to see - but it was extremely impressive. The foresight and ingeniousness these people had almost 100 years ago is pretty incredible. There is enough cement in the Hoover Dam to build a sidewalk the entire length of the equator. These men worked 7 days a week for years. They got Christmas and 4th of July off - and those were optional. This was during the depression so people flocked to the area to work on the Hoover Dam. Another fact we found pretty cool was that if they poured all the concrete of the Dam at once it would take 125 years to cool. It would STILL be cooling. Instead, they discovered that if they laid 5 cubic feet at once they could run pipe through the middle of it and run cold water through the pipe- cooling the cement quickly. Still, they could only pour 5 feet up every 7 days.
After the Hoover Dam we rode through Lake Mead State Park. It was very pretty. Good thing we had enough gas - we didn't realize how long and how far north it went. There was......nothing! It was pretty though. The day was relaxing and enjoyable. We were glad to get off the Strip in the middle of the week to break things up. Our motorcycle was super nice - GPS that told us exactly where to go and we were able to stream our music. It was really nice. Chilly, (I think I had on about 6 layers) but really nice and we were so glad we did it.
Stopped at some Red Rocks and did a little climbing.
Beautiful. Rode through the Valley of Fire with rocks that were bright red. So pretty.
Then we checked into our 2nd hotel - Desert Club. It was really nice. Spacious with a living room and fireplace, full kitchen, bedroom, walk-in closet, etc. a number of different pools.
Desert Club was a block behind the Strip and right in the middle. We just walked behind the Linq (the huge "Ferris wheel" thing and we were there. It was a great location and we really liked it. The Linq was beautiful at night. It changed colors. (Each of those little pods can hold 30 people - each pod has it's own bar and bartender. A picture is hard to do it justice. It's HUGE).
After a great and amazing stay, we were ready to head home. (Kind of...the 80 degree weather and sunny skies made it a bit hard, but we were SOOOO ready to see the boys!!)
