Paci
Last week both boys had dentist appointments. Everything went great, except for the one topic: Paci. Dane still takes one at nap and bedtime. When he bites down his front teeth don't touch. He loves that paci and quite frankly, I love it too. He's growing so fast and I love seeing that glimpse of my baby when I give him his paci and snuggle him. His dentist said that age 3 is the magic number. He should be weaned by then to avoid any effects to permanent teeth. Fine. We have 10 whole months! 6-8 more likely knowing me, just to be safe. Then enter this weekend. We went to the drive-in on Friday night and Dane fell asleep there and we got home, put him straight to bed, no paci. Then Saturday night he had his very first sleepover at Aunt Terri's and you guessed it: no paci. Two nights no paci=whoa!! Luke and I were talking that maybe this is the time to go for it. So this evening, under the radar, I cut a little slit in the top of his paci. At bedtime I couldn't wait to see what the reaction would be. I slipped him his paci and went about business like usual taking him downstairs. We made it to the stairs when I see him take out Paci to inspect. I glance over to see him studying Paci as if something were wrong. He looks at me, I give him a smile and he pops it back in and we continue on. We brush teeth and then go to get on jammies. While I was putting on jammies he continues to suck double time on Paci, as if he is trying to make up for the lost suction. I put him in bed and we snuggle up to read "Dog Book". I tried to keep my composure as I read the book and numerous times he takes out Paci to inspect. He turned it over, inspected it and I could help but find it hilarious. Feeling like I was trying to pull one over on him and just waiting to see the reaction. Like the feeling you get when pulling a prank, but this was my baby! And I was finding it just as hilarious!? What's wrong with me! Anyway by the 4th time or so of seeing him pull out Paci to see what was wrong, I lost it and burst out laughing. Fortunately he thought it was hilarious too and laughed just as hard. So we finished up bedtime with him pulling out his paci and both if us dying laughing over and over. Ahhh, love that boy!!

Will is 5!
It's so hard to believe Will is 5! Sometimes it seems like he was born yesterday and other times I feel like I've been a mom forever. My big boy. I'm so proud of him. He can be the sweetest most thoughtful little boy ever. He says the funniest things. He has such a strong personality - I feel that he is going to do something big with his life. Rather, whatever he chooses to do in life, he will do it big. He is so happy. In fact everyone comments on how happy he is - his teachers at school, other parents on his t-ball team. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "He always has that big smile on his face! I've never seen such a happy kid!" I saw on Pinterest (of course) an idea to do each year on his birthday..so we are starting this year. I'm going to ask him the same questions each year and see how his answers change. (see below) Obviously the one on Pinterest was in an adorable scrapbook with all kinds of cute decos. I'll get there one day. Maybe. But the important part is the questions, and I'll definitely get that.
On his birthday I had to work :( but I think he had a great day. I made him cinnamon streusel muffins for breakfast, and let him open his present. We got him a LeapPad Explorer (which he now calls his "kindle"). After I got off work we went to my mom and Chucks and the Thompsons joined us for a party! There were lots of balloons, we played corn hole, ate pizza, opened presents, swam, had "cake balls" (cake-pops-mommy-failure-turned-cake-balls-in-muffin-cups). It was a great day. For a great boy.

Moneybags
Tonight when we were getting ready for bed I was talking with Will and saying that we needed to come up with some new things this summer for him to help out with around the house now that he's getting so big. He agreed and a few minutes later came back with his wallet, got out a couple of $2 bills and said "like help pay for groceries!".
LOVE that boy. What a sweetheart.

T-Ball Has Begun!
T-ball is maybe even cuter than soccer, if that's possible. These little kids learning to hit, catch, which way to run. It's hilarious, precious, and watching Will learn the game and be part of a team makes my heart smile.
Camping!
This weekend we went camping with the Dunscombes at lake Monroe. This was the boys' first camping trip and they loved it. We went out on the Dunscombes boat, tubed and swam. We made smores, did sparklers, and the kids ran and ran. It was so fun to see them make up games to play (like ice cream store) and watch and hear them all interact. This was the first time ever that Will and Dane had slept together - me being the Sleep Nazi and all. But they did great! - both in their sleeping bags. Fell asleep quickly, slept thru noisy camper neighbors and didn't make a peep until morning. It was fun to all sleep in the same tent, our little family. Weekends like this make you appreciate the good, simple, important things in life. Can't wait for our next camping adventure!
